The Construction Fire Safety & Low Risk Fire Assessment course is designed to provide learners with the essential skills and knowledge required to manage and mitigate fire risks on construction sites. Course Key Facts
Course Duration: 16 hours of study spread over two consecutive days.
The course can be delivered on-line, which is the most cost-effective option. Our preferred option is face-face, either at the customers premises or at our office. Prices will be provided dependant on your requirements.
There will be a number of handouts to assist delegates, which will be provided electronically.
Course Content
The course consists of 8 Units
Unit 1 – Managing Fire Safety: Strategies for managing fire safety on low-risk construction projects.
Unit 2 – Introduction to Legislation and Guidance: Overview of relevant fire risk assessment laws and guidelines.
Unit 3 – Fire Science: Understanding the basics of fire and explosion on construction sites.
Unit 4 – Causes of Fire on Construction Sites: Identification of fire hazards, fire loading
Unit 5 – Pre-Construction Information: What information is provided to help in fire safety and how to use it.
Unit 6 – Construction Phase Plan: Development of fire safety measures within the construction phase plan.
Unit 7 – Fire Protection Arrangements: Techniques and equipment for firefighting and protection on construction sites.
Unit 8 – Reviewing Fire Safety Arrangements: Prescribed review and inspection requirements and maintaining a safe site.
Unit 9 – Fire Safety Risk Assessment: Preparation and delivery of a fire safety risk assessment on a low-risk construction site.
Assessment
In-Course Subject Matter Assessments: Candidates will complete in-course tasks to evaluate progression and ensure learning objectives are achieved.
In-Course Practical Assessment: Candidates complete a fire risk assessment based on a specimen/example site and/or one of their ongoing construction projects using a standardised template that follows PAS79.
