LEGIONELLA AWARENESS

To provide a ‘place of work and a working environment that is, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe and without risks to health’ are some of the general duties stated in Part 1 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Section 2, 3 and 4.  Legionnaire’s Disease is risk to health that must be controlled in accordance with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH).

Aim:

The course will help develop knowledge and understanding about managing water systems within premises to protect the occupants and public from exposure to airborne water droplets contaminated by legionella bacteria.

Who should Attend:

Anyone responsible for controlling premises, managing premises or planning maintenance, employees undertaking caretaker or other premise maintenance activities.

Course Outline:

• What is Legionnaire Disease and who is at risk?

• H&S law covering the prevention of Legionnaire’s Disease

• Sources of H&S information and guidance about controlling legionella bacteria

• Essential knowledge and information about premises

• Systematic approach to managing and monitoring control measures to ensure they are working

• Remedial Actions that can eliminate potential problems

Duration:

2-hours.  Held at a location of your choice.  This course can also be conducted using either Zoom or Teams applications.
